Lee Selby is currently looking forward to returning to The O2 when he takes on prior world champion Ricky Burns.
Selby will examine himself from Burns in a clash on the undercard of Regis Prograis-Josh Taylor in The O2 on October 26, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
“The O2 was great to me, I’ve boxed there greater than any venue. I won the Lonsdale belt there,” said Selby.
“I won and defended the world title and I’m back there on October 26. Now I have a tough competition. Ricky Burns is a former three-weight world champion.
“To win a domain and defend it after, you’ve got to be an excellent fighter. You have got to become brilliant to do it twice. You are elite, to do it in 3 different weight. I’ve got the utmost respect for Ricky Burns.
“We shared with the ring back in 2014, he got me in for sparring before the Terrence Crawford fight and from what I can recall it was fantastic sparring. It was really competitive, it was down and up and after every spar everyone stood and gave a standing ovation to us.
“If the sparring is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat.”
Later losing his IBF world featherweight title to Josh Warrington at 2018 two weight divisions moved up, but the Welshman considers it was a blessing in disguise.
“Obviously it was bothering but it’s like a burden has been lifted off my waist. I can struggle at a comfortable weight, I am happy at the gym and I am feeling good,” he added.
Burns can return after a year away in the ring once he chooses former world champion Selby.
“Finally I have one over the lineup,” explained Burns. “It has been a frustrating year for me, a couple fights are talked about but dropped through. Obviously, my struggle was November so that we pulled it.
“I know I’ve got a difficult fight, as Lee said, we have sparred before.
“At night that the very best man will win but I only feel I am heading out there to do a project. Training has been going well so far and that I can not wait”
