Britain’s Anthony Joshua claims he has made”drastic” lifestyle changes since his shock defeat by Andy Ruiz in June.
Joshua dropped his WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight names because he was knocked down four times in New York – one of boxing’s greatest upsets.
The group will fight in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on December.
“Boxing was constantly the easiest part for me personally. The battle was always maintaining my life in check,” Joshua, 29, told AFP.
“There will be no aftershock after the very first fight. I will be. Getting knocked down was great.
“I’ve made some radical changes, lifestyle stuff. Family priorities. The effort necessary to stay on the straight and narrow is tough.”
The pair faced off through an international media tour to the rematch on Thursday with Ruiz – that fights below a Mexican flag – wearing a sombrero.
Joshua vowed to regain his titles and insisted”stopping is not in my DNA”.
“As long as I have breath in me, I will keep on fighting to get the fire of boxing,” said Joshua.
“I confronted overcome as a recreational in my third fight. There could be if I’d stopped. I lost in the. There would be no now When I ceased then.
“Everyone in this room has been through specific things where no-one believed in them.
“I am not even so gun shy and I am looking forward to getting back in there and hammering my straps.”
As it was declared it would maintain Saudi Arabia, the bout has drawn criticism.
Human rights organisation Amnesty International has emphasized the country’s”abysmal” human rights record. Substantial limitations on freedom of expression and the rights of women have been increased, as has the use of the death penalty for offences.
The Kingdom has sought to improve how it’s perceived by staging sporting and entertainment events in a bid to attract visitors and transfer away from the economy.
Joshua said:”I’ve heard it [complaint of Saudi Arabia’s human rights record] since the fight was declared. It’s a point of conversation but it is a good thing that we are currently speaking about it and they’re currently acting to make a change.
“They’re making great changes and after having these types of conversations, I start realising that yes, there’s an issue there. My trips to the Middle East have been around Dubai and I’ve had fun. The reception has been great.”
Talking to DAZN, promoter Eddie Hearn stated:”We cannot ignore the potential for boxing in the Middle East. I believe this is a of a guard in several respects. Each promoter in boxing strove to get to Saudi Arabia to get a mega event.
“Not only Saudi however Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar would be bidding to get fights at the future. You either embrace the shift or turn your back on it and be an idiot.”
After the defeat at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Joshua said he favoured a return until the profitable offer to deliver the struggle was confirmed.
“It had been a part of the program [to struggle New York again]. This was my favorite option,” Joshua explained.
His shock defeat in June – the first of the profession of their Briton – led to some forecasts for Joshua to part company with Robert McCracken, who’s trained him.
“This was a fairly difficult night,” McCracken said. “I really don’t think Anthony was himself that night but that resembles an excuse since Ruiz was great at the evening. We all know he will be prepared.
“I took flack for the loss, I have no issue with this because the head trainer. I would not have stated when I did not believe his titles could be got by Anthony back do the rematch. Anthony’s sole mission is the belts back.”
