Los Angeles Rams linebacker Clay Matthews is going to be sidelined for four to six months after breaking his jaw, coach Sean McVay told reporters on Friday.
Matthews will undergo surgery, according to McVay. Thats not good for us, the coach said. Thats a large injury.
Matthews sustained the injury through Los Angeles 30-29 loss Thursday to the Seattle Seahawks.
McVay says he believes when Seattle running back Chris Carson kicked Matthews in the face it happened.
33, matthews, was off to a solid start in his first season.
He has two forced fumbles six sacks and 19 tackles in five matches.
Matthews, who spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has 89.5 career sacks in 148 matches (142 starts).
Rams receiver Brandin Cooks (concussion) was injured and was put in the NFL protocol.
Thursday, cooks was injured in the fourth quarter.
Cooks has 20 receptions for yards and one touchdown. He awakened 1,000 receiving yards together with the New England Patriots and with the Rams in 2018 – twice using the New Orleans Saints in each of the four seasons.
