Los Angeles Rams linebacker Clay Matthews will be sidelined for four to six weeks after breaking his jaw, trainer Sean McVay told reporters on Friday.
Matthews will undergo operation, according to McVay. That is not great for people, the coach said. Thats a large injury.
Matthews continued the injury on Thursday through Los Angeles 30-29 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
McVay says he believes it happened when Seattle running back Chris Carson kicked Matthews from the face.
33, matthews, was away to a solid start with the Rams in his first season.
He has six sacks, two forced fumbles and 19 tackles in five games.
Matthews, who spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has 89.5 career sacks in 148 games (142 starts).
Rams receiver Brandin Cooks (concussion) also was hurt and was put in the NFL protocol.
Thursday, cooks was injured in the fourth quarter.
Cooks has 20 receptions for yards and one touchdown. He topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of the four seasons – twice with the New Orleans Saints, after.
