Los Angeles Rams linebacker Clay Matthews will be sidelined for four to six months after breaking his jaw, trainer Sean McVay told reporters.
Matthews will undergo surgery, according McVay. That is not great for us, the coach said. That is a huge harm.
Matthews sustained the injury Thursday through Los Angeles 30-29 loss.
McVay says that he considers when Seattle running back Chris Carson unintentionally kicked Matthews from the face, it happened.
33, matthews, was off to a solid start in his first season with the Rams.
He has two forced fumbles, six sacks and 19 tackles in five matches.
Matthews, who spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, has 89.5 career sacks in 148 games (142 begins ).
Rams receiver Brandin Cooks (concussion) also was hurt and was placed in the NFL protocol.
Thursday cooks was injured in the fourth quarter.
Cooks has 20 receptions for 325 yards and one touchdown. He awakened 1,000 receiving yards with all the Rams in 2018 and with the New England Patriots – double with the New Orleans Saints, once in each of the preceding four seasons.
