NFL Hall of Famer and former VP of player personnel Gil Brandt indicated that Lloyd should be contacted by the Bears.
“Frankly, I don’t think it’ll be long before we see a woman burst through this NFL barrier. I would give her a fair tryout when I were, say, the Bears.”
The Bears have attempted out nine kickers since the 2018 season’s conclusion. 10 field goals were missed by cody Parkey, their kicker last year, including a in their 16-15 reduction in the NFC Wild Card round from the Eagles and the team currently has Eddy Pineiro because their kicker.
“So many people are starting to believe’will there be a lady [participant ] in the NFL?’ I think we’re sort of at that crossroads so far as equality and women empowerment.
I’ve definitely got some enquiries, I got folks talking. Whatever is possible but right now I’m strictly a football player and we are going to find out what the future holds,” Lloyd told Sports Illustrated.
The US Women’s National Team play a friendly against Portugal at Philadelphia on Thursday while the Eagles and the Jets visit at MetLife Stadium. Can a woman kick in the NFL? Yes, Lloyd has the leg strength and many others do too but sadly it won’t occur within this preseason.
