I have always been impressed by the push of men and women who create mods and ROM hacks for their favorite games. It is produced by fans, for fans, and that’s only a beautiful thing.

Nintendo is famous for being hard on ROM hacking communities, but they suffer thanks to the love all these founders. And think about Super Mario 64, arguably one of the greatest platformers from Nintendo’s library… it’s got a lot out there.

I have recently become hacks for Nintendo’s classic Super Mario 64 and I can not help but respect the work put into them.

It’s especially impressive considering the weird and honestly antique way the sport is coded, which is to be expected from a pioneer of the 64-bit era.

I will do my part to fan the flames of ROM hacking and then discuss what I believe are the 10 best Super Mario 64 ROM hacks ever made.

10.

A pretty good option to try out ROM hacks and choose whether or not it’s for you would be Kampel64’s SM64: The Green Stars.

It adds many degrees and showcases a whole lot of what is possible through those modifications.

It has 130 celebrities to accumulate throughout many custom degrees. A number of that you will have to find by exploring the overworld using a detective’s lens, as the founder made it a point to hide every secret perfectly.

The main reason it’s not higher in the position is simply that the caliber of level design fluctuates more than it needs to.Read here new super mario bros. rom At our site

Some places are so simple they’re dull, whereas others need a few hyper-specific trick jumps and feats just a specialist can pull off without even striving 200 times.

9.

If you’d like to begin with something more ambitious then contemplate SM64: Kirby Edition by creator Dudaw.

This hack replaces the classic red-capped plumber using the lovable Kirby.

It was the very first full personality hack ever released on SM64, and despite the practice being more common nowadays I would say the polish level remains striking.

Not only does Kirby go and glide as the personality should. But power-ups are modified to flip the pink pull to a Boo or a Thwomp, mimicking his replicate ability.

You may also ride Kirby’s touch Warp Star on some levels. Neat!

8.

Anyone who’s been after the SM64 ROM hacking scene is familiarized with Kaze Emanuar, the hard-working visionary behind lots of the very ambitious and beautiful hacks for the timeless game.

Super Mario 64 Land is just one of the past creations. It’s less scope than a few of the others but the exact same final quality.

It plays much like Super Mario 3D Land, including 33 new levels that are considerably more linear than those present in vanilla.

Mario also includes a few new moves to traverse them better. Notably, a Butt Bounce and an Aerial Twist, and that you’ll find remarkably useful.

7. Super Mario 64: Star Revenge Redone

Produced by ROM hacking character BroDute and several collaborators, the Star Revenge series is just one of the very prolific hack set in life. Counting more than six major releases and also a ton of remakes.

SM64: Star Revenge Redone is actually the most updated version of the first hack. It comprises over 125 new stars to gather over 13 different levels.

What makes this hack so unique, aside from the surreal humor and self-referencing jokes, is its complicated lore and also an overarching narrative you’d have to play every launch to comprehend.

Should you would like to set out on that pursuit, this is where to get started.

6.

For something unexpectedly less complex we’ve Kaze Emanuar’s Super Mario Bros. 64, which brings the side-scrolling platformer charm of old Mario games such as Super Mario World.

But rendered in SM64’s 3D engine. Wonderful, right?

I really like the way the camera angle is tilted just in the right angled angle so that you can appreciate thickness without abandoning the side-scrolling perspective entirely.

It is possible to play as many characters from the Mario universe like Luigi, Wario, fan-favorite Waluigi, and Mario himself.

5.

Sometimes all we’re looking for is a harder experience from our all time favorite games.

If that is you, consider Super Mario 74 from Lugmilors.

It has 120 new celebrities to become in its numerous customized degrees, all which present a considerably increased problem than your average vanilla SM64 situation.

That includes most boss fights, which have added challenges like needing to swing Bowser higher to hit the bombs.

Once you clean it you could go on to play Super Mario 74 Extreme Edition, and it will be a more ridiculous, Kaizo-level battle.

4. Super Mario 64 Sapphire

Given the artisanal character of ROM hacking generally, I would say the majority of these matches have… varying degrees of quality, to say the very least.

Yet one of the most frequently fantastic hacks around is NebulaSM64’s Super Mario 64 Sapphire, a short but sweet experience consisting of 30 stars spread over six incredible amounts.

And these amounts feature a number of their most gorgeous landscapes ever found with this 64-bit engine.

If you’re trying to find a fast Mario fix with a twist on SM64 then that is it.

3. Super Mario: Star Road

I think in showing respect and admiration for pioneering efforts in almost any field.

This large ROM hack has been one of the first ones with some mainstream appeal out the hardcore ROM hacking network.

It has 130 celebrities to accumulate in certain excellent amounts, introduces new enemies, and contains a revamped soundtrack which gives it the sense of a legitimate sequel.

Considering the extreme focus on tight platforming, it’s also important to notice all of the work put into making a more friendly camera than the original.

2.

Another classic hack which revamps several vital technical aspects in the game is Frauber’s SM64: The Missing Stars.

It comes with a more day/night cycle, a much better camera, and a whole lot of other tweaks that enhance gameplay.

You could even go through its ten degrees as Luigi if you’re tired of the plumper brother.

With upgraded managers, new enemies, and remixed songs that comprises some original compositions created especially for the hack, it seems to be an entirely fresh take on the SM64 formulation.

1.

When there’s 1 ROM hack worthy of being contemplated SM64’s sequel, it needs to be Last Impact by Kaze Emanuar.

It includes a great deal of custom assets, new supervisors made of scratch, and even new power-ups. All really cool things, like a Yoshi that you can ride and Super Mario Sunshine’s FLUDD, among other items.

This match is a technical marvel!

Every one of the new levels is entirely separate from what we’re used to viewing. And getting each one of these 130 new celebrities introduces several specific challenges.

There is a level at which you will have to play Mario Party games to acquire the coveted body!

Sureit may get a tad wonky here and now there. And it is not without its fair share of bugs.

But that is to be expected of this enormous undertaking, and something you can generally dismiss because this rom hack really is SM64’s next level.
