Turkey: Women’s Expedition
At the identical time, more than one third of medical doctors, a couple of quarter of working towards legal professionals and judges, and one third of university professors in the country, are women. After the founding of the Turkish Republic in 1923, the feminist movement gradually became part of the Kemalist modernization efforts. Polygamy was banned, divorce and inheritance rights had been made equal. In the Thirties, Turkey gave full political rights to women, including the proper to elect and be elected locally (in 1930) and nationwide (in 1934).
