Sheffield United co-owner Kevin McCabe says he has the”power” to appeal with the High Court’s ruling he should sell his share of the club for Saudi co-owner, Prince Abdullah.
Following a High Court judge ruled Sheffield-born McCabe must market his share of their team to the for # 33, A bitter 18-month ownership battle between both ended on Monday.
The royal bought 50 percent of this then-League One team #1 in 2013, promising to finance the running of their club for 3 decades.
McCabe signaled he would contest the ruling and has.
“Can I have the energy? Make no bones, of course I do,” McCabe told Sky Sports News.
McCabe admits that he regrets entering into an arrangement which saw only owner Prince Abdullah that is soon-to-be get a 50 percent stake in the bar.
“All of us can judge hindsight what may or not have been better to do some years back,” McCabe said.
“Do I regret what the agreement entered into Prince Abdullah at 2013? Regrettably yes, but it had been entered into and we are where we are now.”
McCabe disclosed he and Prince Abdullah met in Paris where suggestions from either side were set forward but no resolution was reached.
“When I have got a duty still to the fans [then] it’s to attempt to make sure that when Prince Abdullah does turn into the true owner from the weeks and months ahead… true owner, we do our utmost to guide him to help it become a better club,” he added.
McCabe, who’s invested #100m at the club above a number of decades, believes Blades manager Chris Wilder will likely be”somewhat perplexed” by the possibility of the club being under new ownership.
“I haven’t talked to Chris as of yet,” the 71-year-old said.
“I have left it be because I’d think he’s started thinking to do so and I would think he would be somewhat confused. But Chris and I have been very good friends and we’ve exchanged text messages.”
He added:”I shall only say that what I do in accordance with Chris would be for the betterment of Sheffield United Football Club.”
