It is a game Norwich City fans will be talking about for decades.
Their triumph over defending champions Manchester City has been the manner of this success and a major Premier League jolt surprised even those supporters used to manager Daniel Farke’s bold strategy.
This thrilling 3-2 win was typical of their extreme, front-foot style implemented from the German since he walked to Carrow Road in May 2017 – and reached its peak here on Saturday night following the terrific benefit of winning the Championship last year.
Could that work from the Premier League? Those fans who greeted the final whistle – their staff getting the very first side that was encouraged to beat at Manchester City in 25 attempts since March 2015 – appeared in uncertainty.
The previous time Norwich experienced an occasion in this way from Manchester City was in 2005 if the member of the club’s toolbox, Delia Smith, grabbed the mic after they’d lost a two-goal lead and launched her infamous speech.
Delia exhorted the Norwich lovers having an unscripted, impromptu speech requiring:”We need a 12th man . Where do you? Where do you? Let’s be with you.”
The Canaries lost that game 3-2. This may not happen to be a starker contrast. The joy was unconfined. Even the din ear-splitting.
She knew where they were here. You could not miss them and you could hear them.
As was on screen it turned out to be a 90 minutes in a rocking Carrow Road.
Noise levels were high but the elation and also the din on the faces and into the body language of every home fan told this dramatic story.

“We must go with what we’ve got and what we believe in, which will be being on the front of the foot. It wasn’t possible to dominate the ball we had a special program and happily it worked well.”
Backed by a raucous packed house, they delivered two significant blows to Manchester City through Kenny McLean and Todd Cantwell, then showed grit and durability to stave off the worries of Sergio Aguero’s target right on half-time to get Teemu Pukki to restore their two-goal pillow.
It is a bold approach to take at the top level but Farke isn’t for turning and there’s absolutely not any doubt he has a team containing ability and the strength to win matches.
When measured in optimism along with self-belief and there’ll be large spin-offs from this win from one of the clubs in Europe.
If any of Norwich’s players supporters have any doubts about Farke’s their ability to reside alongside the likes of Manchester City, they can slide in the DVD of the memorable match.
It’s almost unfair to mention names because every player was outstanding however Ibrahim Amadou was top-class in defence while the guile, skill and energy of Emiliano Buendia is the perfect foil for Pukki and the running of the Marco Stiepermann.
Farke shared the moment with his players in the final whistle prior to building a lap of the stadium amid roars of adulation by exultant fans.
This is a terrible night for those winners, however the glory goes into Norwich for outcome and a functionality that could presume significance as their period unfolds.
