(CNN) — Major League Baseball supposedly has cautioned its players that over-the-counter sexual supplements could contain prohibited ingredients which would result in unsuccessful performance enhancing drugs tests.
ESPN obtained a memo sent for the 30 clubs by the league officer.
The memo states in part that”the products tend to be contaminated with illegal and harmful components,” ESPN reported.
CNN requested the Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball . The team said it doesn’t create public memos.
The use of over-the-counter, sexual efficiency enhancement tablets — commonly found at convenience stores — is widespread among baseball players, ESPN reported citing unnamed sources.
The US Food and Drug Administration has warned that the public previously about using non-regulated male enhancement solutions.
Donald D. Ashley, director of the Office of Compliance in the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, told CNN last year that”that the FDA was combating the retail sale of penile enhancement drug products that are frequently misrepresented as dietary supplements and that include hidden and potentially dangerous active drug components.”
