Jurgen Klopp was pleased with the penalty decision that helped Napoli to a win more than his Liverpool side.
Jose Callejon went below minimum tension out of Andrew Robertson, however, the well-placed referee gave a spot-kick, and the VAR officer chose against overturning the choice.
That enabled the scoring to start in a match Liverpool had been mostly comfy in, and also in the dying moments, they added another goal to secure victory.
“For me it’s very clear and clear, no punishment, because Callejon jumps until he has any touch,” Klopp said. “However, we cannot change that we need to be crucial . We did well in lots of moments, we played with a lot of good football but we didn’t end off.
“In the second half we had this wild game, we had been operating, they were still running. They’ve killed everybody on the pitch, started controlling and then we’ve conceded a penalty.
“Of course that doesn’t help and I have seen it today, I don’t think that’s a penalty.”
Klopp was also unhappy with his misfiring forward line, whose play was far below their normal standard and forced only two saves from Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret.
“We commanded it in moments, but we’d not enough opportunities in the long run,” Klopp said. “What you saw was a lot of respect from both sides, we both defended well and every ball we dropped, or they dropped, was instantly a hazard.
“The last ball has become the most difficult ball anyhow, and if you’re not in the proper situation it’s even more difficult. And therefore there were moments when we must have done , for sure.”
